NEW for WOC 2023! Skilled trade organizations are fighting two major battles when addressing the skilled trades gap – awareness and perception. Many construction companies have reached the point of stealing labor from each other and, as a result, defeating the goal of strengthening the community in which they work.
Determined to find a long-term solution to the workforce shortage, FORGE was formed with the vision of strengthening partnerships with local schools and teaching students how to be ready for the workforce. FORGE (Family Organizations Recruiting Great Employees) is a group of community-minded construction businesses working alongside educators to recruit talented, skilled employees.
A panelist comprised of construction business owners will share their experiences and how they have successfully raised awareness of construction careers. Participants will hear about the various interactive events FORGE members organized over the past five years i.e. career expos, interview days, construction camps, jobsite tours, and parent's career education nights.
